Georgia State Troopers Cracking Down on Drivers

During the holiday season, Georgia State Patrol Troopers have been cracking down on drivers.

The troopers said that they have found preventing distracted and impaired driving has cut down on the number of accidents over the holidays and advise people not to drink and drive when attending family events. They also warned about speeding saying that if drivers were to cut their speed by as little as 10 mph there would be a reduction in the number of accidents.

The Christmas weekend saw three DUI arrests by Georgia State Troopers in Valdosta, one in Albany, and five in Thomasville. More are expected for the New Year weekend.

Across South Georgia as a whole there were nine DUI arrests.

Troopers went on to say that they have also been keeping their eye on those driving while texting.

The holiday weekend saw total of 17 wrecks in South Georgia, five in Albany, nine in Valdosta, and three in Thomasville.
